Sneads Ferry Real Estate & Area Information
Sneads Ferry began in 1728 as Edmond Ennett established a ferry at the location of the modern day high rise bridge on Hwy 172. This ferry was critical in the infant stages of the US postal service connecting Charleston, SC to Suffolk, VA. Robert Snead soon after begun to operate a ferry at the same spot . . hence "Sneads Ferry" was born.
The area is now home to the back gate of the marine base Camp Lejuene and the home port of a large commercial fishing industry in the area.
The Riverview Cafe and Capt Jims, located on the waterfront in "downtown Sneads Ferry" serves up some of the best local caught and fresh seafood either from the New River or from the Atlantic Ocean off Topsail Island.
Recent growth on board the military base has brought several new subdivisions and apartment communities such Mimosa Bay or Escoba Bay.
Home prices are very affordable ranging from the lows 100s to low 200s, especially when you take in account the location
